SOTA: School of the Arts Singapore

Winnie graduated from Nanyang Technological University with a Bachelor in Accountancy. While pursuing her academic studies, she concurrently obtained the Fellowship Diploma in Solo Piano from Trinity College London, and the Licentiate Diploma in Piano Performing (Distinction) from the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM), under the tutelage of Ms Lim Tshui Ling. Winnie has also participated in and won prizes at the National Music Competitions and the Singapore Music Teachers’ Association Piano Competitions.

Winnie has been a ballet accompanist at SOTA since 2008. Prior to SOTA, she has played for ballet summer schools, workshops, graded and vocational examinations for the Royal Academy of Dance. Additionally, she has played ad-hoc sessions with the Singapore Dance Theatre for company classes.

Winnie finds dance fascinating - where the body is an instrument and movements are the physical expression of music. Dance accompaniment and teaching musicality to dance students has thus been an interesting way to explore the relationship between sound and movement.

Outside of SOTA, Winnie teaches piano and holds the Licentiate Diploma in Instrumental Teaching (Distinction) from the ABRSM. She also accompanies instrumental and voice students, as well as school choirs.

In her free time, she enjoys singing in acapella groups and in choirs.
