Seah Ser Hui
Faculty of Literature in English Ser Hui holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree in English Language and
Literature. Trained at the National Institute of Education, she has been teaching
English Language and Literature in secondary schools since 1992.
Professionally, Ser Hui is a qualified practitioner of Concept-based Curriculum &
Instruction, and an accredited Future Problem Solving (FPS) coach. In 2012, she
presented a paper on assessment design at the 38th International Association for
Educational Assessment (IAEA) Annual Conference. She has also undergone International Baccalaureate's specialised training in teaching Language and Literature.
Apart from her extensive experience in education, she has worked in both the
service and banking industries, and this has enabled her to bring real-world
experiences into the classroom in order to enrich her students’ learning.
Ser Hui believes that reading Literature nurtures deep thinking skills.
She enjoys challenging learners in her class to interrogate the texts with incisive
questions. Most of all, she has a passion to motivate her students to appreciate
the beauty of Literary language. She believes that thoughtful reading of literature
cultivates compassion, moral integrity and a deeper understanding of humanity.
